Exceptional brooch in silver (unstamped, tested and hallmarked) with garnet, turquoise and wax pearl from around 1840. Typical piece of jewelry from Transylvania. The hallmark on the pin indicates that it was made in Austria before 1872.
The openwork pin in an elongated oval shape is lavishly decorated with baroque ornaments such as rocailles leaf motifs. Six turquoises and six garnets in handcrafted zircon settings are symmetrically set on the design. In the centre, a wax bead is emblazoned in typical baroque fashion, attached by a pin. A suspension of a garnet drop set all around completes the harmonious picture of the brooch.
The pin was subsequently fitted with a safety clasp.
