Brooch
Description

Enchanting silver star of historicism (unstamped, tested). Brooch from the time around 1870, in form and design attributed to the workshop of Adolf Mayer senior, Frankfurt/Main.
The six-pointed star is chased from solid silver sheet with embossing in the shape of diamond roses. The pin is secured with a simple locking hook.
This type of jewelry workmanship is characteristic of the 19th century: Expensive stones and metals were reinterpreted in an imaginative way with "substitute materials". Here diamond roses were replaced by the embossing of the silver, so that the light is also reflected nobly in these forms. Thus was created new jewelry for all walks of life.
