Description
Silver brooch (stamped 900S, RBH for Rudolf Basson, Hamburg and a Danish hallmark with Viking helmet) in the Nordic Skønvirke style from around 1910.
The brooch is made of chased silver which is verbödet from behind. An oval green agate cabochon in a wavy frame setting crowns the unusual design of organic shapes and stylized philodendron leaves. The pin is held in place by a sturdy safety clasp.
The stamps indicate that the piece of jewelry was made in Denmark, then distributed in Germany by Hamburg wholesaler Richard Basson.
