Oval silver pendant (stamped 800) with black enamel to open from around 1900. Attributed to the Gustav Hauber manufactory, Schwäbisch Gmünd.
The front of the large amulet is fully enamelled. The charm of the piece of jewellery results from the contrast of shiny and matt planes in black. A frame of shiny enamel is elegantly separated from the surface of the matt enamel by a fine silver rim.
The back of the pendant is smooth silver. It can be opened at the side and offers space for two pictures (ca. 3,8 x 2,5 cm). The original frames are preserved.
This kind of jewellery was originally worn on long chains around the neck at stomach level. But the pendant also looks very beautiful on a black brocade cord.
