Description
Fancy souvenir costume jewellery from Italy with glass mosaic from the middle of the 19th century.
The brooch has the shape of a heart that is lined with applied beads. Inside the heart shape is another heart in which a micro mosaic with colourful flower motifs made of small glass stones is set. The outer edge is lined with fine white mosaic rods.
The pin is closed with a simple hook.
Such charming mosaics were made in the ancient tradition with tiny glass particles in Italian workshops. They were popular souvenirs of travellers to Italy until the end of the 19th century.
