Italian brooch with glass mosaic from the middle of the 19th century.
The pin in Etruscan design shows a particularly beautiful flower mosaic. The diamond in the centre bears a black and turquoise design with forget-me-not flowers. The two elongated outer elements are decorated with daisies on a turquoise background. The fine, notched edge is decorated with six applied beads.
A simple hook serves as a clasp. It was subsequently attached with pewter.
Such charming mosaics were made in the ancient tradition with tiny glass particles in Italian workshops. They were popular souvenirs of travellers to Italy until the end of the 19th century.
